The book is a dynamic and often humorous conversation in which Murray Stein and Diane Stanley (artist and long-time Buddhist practitioner) share experiences that opened a path to Self-knowledge in their own lives, including psychedelics, meditation, synchronicity, dreams and active imagination.
There are 24 paintings of dream images in the third chapter, drawn by Diane over the course of a 3-year Jungian analysis. Murray analyses them in order of their appearance to the dreamer. Using only the images, without any personal content, he is able to beautifully reveal the direction of individuation. The important difference between “soul work” and “art work” is also discussed in this chapter.
